Executive MBA in Partnership with IEDC

Training Objectives

The Executive MBA from EIPM is jointly realised with IEDC School of Business. The EIPM specialisation focuses on Purchasing strategies and organisations.

The main objectives are to give participants the capabilities to design their own Purchasing organisation for their Company, aligned with the purchasing strategies which are implemented.

This includes developing understanding of theories, success stories, practices on why and how to build a strategy, and how to implement it based on the organisation’s strategy & culture.

The specialisation modules brought by EIPM are delivered in the classic blended-learning, including:

  • Pre-learning (E-modules, readings, preparations)
  • Face-to-Face sessions based on interaction, discussion, cases, presentations, simulations… with the participation of some external keynote speakers
  • Post-learning such as assignments to validate participants’ comprehension of the concepts and acquired know-how to implement in real life.

The programme is presented below.

A partnership that brings the best from two leading institutions

Starting 2020, the EIPM Executive MBA enters a new phase in partnership with IEDC Bled School of Management.

In this new chapter, Purchasing courses are delivered by EIPM in the Archamps Campus, just outside Geneva, whilst the non-Procurement courses are delivered at IEDC. This will provide students with an IEDC MBA – fully AMBA accredited – diploma with a Procurement major by EIPM.

The EIPM courses take place in the Summer, together with students coming from other MBA programmes (e.g. SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan); there is also an option to take the Procurement courses on our Shanghai Campus, for those who are prepared to incur the travel & accommodation related expenses.

The purchasing function is at the strategic heart of most firms, up to 70% of company spend is made through purchasing. It requires executives with a cross-functional perspective to synthetise functional knowledge from different parts of the company. The courses helped me to look at my job from a bird’s eye view. As managers, we are often at risk of being absorbed by too many details. Professors helped us to improve our ability to see the big picture and the specifics at the same time. One of them used to say “Take the Helicopter view”! That’s something that I have kept ever since.

In 2004 I had the opportunity to join the EIPM Exec MBA specialised in Supply and Purchasing Management. It was one of the best decisions of my professional life as I learnt to be bold. During the programme, Procurement and Business Strategy mixed in a very unique way that brought in front of us a complete new view in these areas. After 2 years of hard work and great team work, we all learnt that procurement is "a 1/3 brains, 1/3 guts and 1/3 heart", as one great man of our field told us once.

The EIPM's purpose is to progress the purchasing profession and develop the skills of individuals. The EIPM's flagship offering, the executive MBA in Purchasing, is an excellent programme covering normal elective subjects as well as a number of specific, tailor-made subjects in purchasing and innovation. The EIPM was created for purchasing and is only providing purchasing training solutions. This is the most important USP for me versus other MBA programmes and purchasing master degrees.
