33 years ago, a group of international companies created the first European and worldwide centre for Purchasing and Supply Management research, education, training, and networking. This first centre was named the EIPM – The European Institute of Purchasing Management HQ , or EIPM.
Since its creation:
many companies have shifted from using the term “Purchasing” to “Procurement,”
priorities of procurement teams have evolved from savings only to a broader set of value creation opportunities.
companies are moving away from low-cost-country sourcing to focus on ecosystems,
bargaining negotiations have given way to supplier relationship management (SRM).
These changes reflect the evolving world of Procurement. For over 30 years, EIPM has been at the forefront of these changes, leading the way through various initiatives, including:
the EIPM Research Centre, which has developed a purchasing/procurement school of thought, including the Value Creation Observatory and the EIPM Peter Kraljic Think Tank,
structured education programmes offered in 9 languages to worldwide buyers and executives,
focused training programmes for some of the largest companies in the world,
the development (of one) of the largest e-library(ies) of online learning modules,
the EIPM Peter Kraljic Awards, which though a rigorous process, recognise the excellence of Purchasing organisations impacting their company, society and the environment,
the EIPM Network of CPOs and professionals who attend different events throughout the year, where expertise, good practices, friendship, simplicity, and openness are shared.
Over the years, EIPM has proven that to lead procurement transformation, you need the right group of experts with the best technical expertise, teaching knowledge, and a great sense of humanity. EIPM is committed to maintaining and reinforcing its global leadership in the years to come.
Join the EIPM spirit and change your Procurement world.
The Training and Development Afternoon Workshop is an exchange forum for those in charge of Talent Development for Purchasing and Supply Chain.
This specialised Workshop, free of charge for CPOs, HR and Training professionals, is held on Wednesday afternoon prior to the Conference.
The presentations are led by speakers from industry and EIPM, focusing on best practices such as: People Development, Purchasing Training and Procurement Academy.
This year, we are welcoming speakers from SANOFI, FERRERO and UNITED METALLURGICAL COMPANY.
Following the Workshop, participants are welcome to join the Networking dinner for the main Conference and exchange with Purchasing and Supply Management professionals from companies across the world.

Our Partners:
Generating Value out of Growing Complexity:
Mastering it, Leveraging it
As companies face growing complexity and experience vital transformations, Purchasing has a major role to play in helping them find opportunities and develop new competitive advantages.
During the next EIPM Annual Conference, we will explore how we can contribute to generate value in such a context and how Purchasing can transform complexity into an advantage.
Altogether we will look, amongst other things, at how to:
Develop an End to End understanding of value chains
Contribute to radically simplifying internal processes
Become a single point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
Establish partnerships with new players
Protect and support brands
Purchasing can turn market complexity, internal complexity and imposed complexities such as regulations and compliance matters to its advantage. It can anticipate and accelerate when required. It can both protect the business while empowering transformations.
This will lead us to examine the following questions:
What does it mean to innovate and generate value in such a context?
Should we measure our contribution to the transformation of our companies?
Can we find other ways to assess, benchmark and communicate our contribution to the success of our companies?
All these challenges are uppermost in the minds of CPOs and Executives in Europe and beyond.
Join us to answer these questions together with leaders and experts from industry, academia and consultancy.

The EIPM Master Class reunites every year prominent academics and business leaders to present and discuss the latest trends impacting Purchasing and Supply Management.
This is part of a special Executive MBA module called “Latest Development in Purchasing”, which combines the Master Class and the EIPM Annual Purchasing Conference. This module is attended jointly by students of both EIPM Campuses of Archamps and Shanghai and is also open to EIPM MBA Alumni.
Limited visiting seats are also available for Purchasing professionals seeking to boost the value and visibility of their careers by intensely exchanging with a very international group and top experts in the field.
In 2017, we will welcome to the Master Class the following expert speakers:
Angus McIntosh – Former CPO at Beiersdorf; Associate Director at Total Negotiation
As companies go through major transformations, Purchasing has an increasing role to play in bringing to life Innovation, Circularity and the Internet of Things.
This is calling for changes not just in terms of process and skills, but also in terms of culture. Indeed, as digitalisation calls for a redefinition of how business competes, human interaction is paradoxically ever more essential.
This year, the Annual Conference will explore what Culture 4.0 means for Purchasing teams. Together we will investigate:
How to lead your teams through such transformations
How your people take the lead in making changes happen
How to create an environment that support innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship
How purchasing becomes more agile
How to foster vibrant and fruitful relationships inside and outside the company

The 2016 EIPM Conference is an exceptional one, as it will close the celebration of the EIPM 25th Anniversary with a look into the future. Throughout the Conference, we will ask ourselves: What will change for Purchasing teams in the next 25 years? We will look at the following sub themes:
[icon type=”icon-pinboard”]BUSINESS FOCUS
We will look at how the business focus of purchasing teams can be strengthened and how they can better contribute to the company transformation within a fast changing business landscape.
[icon type=”icon-gauge”]AGILITY
We will investigate how purchasing teams can become more agile, how they can quickly embrace and respond to changes in the environment. We will debate around the new types of organization, process and skills that are likely to emerge in the years to come.
[icon type=”icon-lamp”]START-UP
We will explore how we can look beyond existing strategic suppliers, find opportunities to bring value and innovate and build relationships with start-ups and other small innovative key players.

This year the EIPM Annual Conference will explore the new performance and financial models:
How key business trends such as sustainability, digitalisation, value-add services and globalisation lead your company to think differently about what you buy and how you measure suppliers’ performance
How you implement innovative business models and new ways of working with suppliers. How this impacts contracts, financial models and performance measurement
How shared services centres and data management techniques help and could help procurement.
How TCO metrics support decision making processes within your company. How you measure the value created by purchasing and suppliers.
How to best report to Business Partners and Shareholders the performance and contribution of purchasing to the business objectives. Can new technology help?

The exponential speed of digital transformation is having a great impact on industries across all domains. This gives rise to the collection of huge amounts of data that can be studied, patterned and automated, driving Decision Making.
What about Procurement?
When we talk about Technology and Digital Transformation in Procurement, a lot of the work is being done by machines with phenomenal accuracy.
New digital tools are allowing professionals to automatically optimize inventory, to prequalify suppliers in rapid time and to automate price-benchmarking, among other uses.
About the Workshop
With the aid of new technology and data-driven decision making, Procurement has improved efficiency, advanced supplier interaction and improved cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Sales, Production and other internal departments.
During this workshop, we’ll explore, among other topics:
Digitalization in Procurement – bringing value to customers
Reading early warning signals from Suppliers
De-risking the Supply Chain beyond Tier 1 Suppliers
New Skills for procurement professionals
The agenda will build on the collective expertise within the EIPM network and will include a combination of best practice presentations and interactive sessions to explore what is done across different industries.

As Purchasing teams increasingly support innovation, Innovation Days have gained popularity. At EIPM, we have gathered some lessons and best practices on how to organise such workshops.
Innovation days should be seen as one step within a broader process. They vary in formats and structures depending on what companies endeavour to achieve within specific contexts.
During the workshop we will reflect on lessons learned and good practices Companies will share their experience.
Workshop focus
Positioning Innovation Days in the broader Innovation sourcing process – We have designed a simple game to put together the appropriate Innovation Sourcing Process.
Different formats for Innovation Days – We have identified three different generic formats: “Come and show”, “Go and see” and “Let’s do it”. We will investigate the relevance of each of these formats.
Managing the Innovation push pull boundaries – Should the Innovation Day be based on a specific brief or should you invite Suppliers to come up with their own Innovation proposal? Should you focus on existing Suppliers or bring some new players into the game?
Preparing and following up – Preparation and follow up are essential for Innovation Days to be productive.
Who should attend?
CPOs / VPs / Purchasing Executives
Purchasing Team Managers with an interest and experience in the topic
Innovation Managers
Main Purchasing stakeholders with a strong interest in the relationship they have with Purchasing
